WHY Soy Wax you may ask...

From tofu to candle wax, protein-rich foods to eco-friendly consumer products, there seems to be no end to how this invaluable resource is used today: the Soybean!
Soy wax is a form of soybean oil that was discovered in 1991. The wax-making process involves harvesting the soybeans and other natural botanical ingredients, and rolling them into flakes. The oil is withdrawn from the flakes where it is then hydrogenated. This process allows the oil to be solid at room temperature. Soy wax is white in colour and comes in pellet and flake forms.
Moreover, soy wax is a resource that can be replaced at a rate comparable or faster to the rate of consumption, and is continually producible without damaging the ecosystem; this makes it a very renewable and sustainable product. To add to this sustainability claim, it is to be noted that soy wax and all of the ingredients in our candles are biodegradable, which reduces landfill waste.
Our candles are made from Pure Soy Wax that is non-toxic and burn at a cool temperature (about 40°C or 104°F); this makes it an obvious choice for candle lovers with children and for worry-free use around the house. It also means that soy wax candles last up to 50% longer than paraffin wax candles of the same size (depending on your environment - draft, how you stored your candle, etc).
***Additionally, some of our candles are made of fragrance oils and soy wax dermatologically tested for direct use on skin, turning your candle into a moisturiser or a (romantic) MASSAGE OIL if you feel like it; feel free to ask us about those.***
Unlike conventional waxes, the soot emissions are very low and DO NOT contain any of the chemical compounds you would find in paraffin candles; so if you’re a candle lover, have kids or want to offer that special someone a healthier gift, this is the cleanest type of candle you could get.
We combine this premium wax, using very complex dosage, with high quality fragrances, natural pigments and natural fibres wicks (they contain NO lead or other harmful metals) to obtain the finished product. Every single candle is getting the most of our attention, and we get an enormous satisfaction in finishing our products to very high standards; from pouring the wax to applying the label and the decoration, we do everything ourselves at a slow but sure pace. The aim is of course for our Customers and Friends to get the most enjoyment from their product, to differentiate ourselves from competitors and to offer a gorgeous and healthier candle at a fair price; all that whilst retaining our commitment to the environment and ethic.
Moreover, Soy wax is water soluble; residue can be washed away very easily with warm water and soap. Never pour wax down your sink or drains as it can clog them as it cools though.
Because we make sure we choose the correct wax, wick, pigment and container for every candle, we can safely say that our candles burn evenly; no hole straight down leaving walls of un-burnt wax. Better yet, Soy Wax candles, when they burn, produce very little soot. However, truth is that anytime you have a flame, you do have some soot; you will find that no candle can be completely soot free, but soy wax candles create much less soot and more importantly, NONE OF THE TOXINS FOUND IN PARAFFIN CANDLES. In fact, pure soy wax, as used in our candles, produces 95% LESS SOOT if burned properly.
Additionally, as many people are now searching for green candles to replace more traditional ones that are unfriendly towards the environment and their health, by using our soy wax candles you are choosing the green way. You or the recipient of this gift can feel great while still enjoying the ambiance you are accustomed to.
Lastly, our candles are made of soy wax that is non-toxic; we only ever use eco-soya wax, which is a high quality premium soy wax (perhaps the best on the market).
Eco-soya wax is solely made of soy grown in the US and issued from responsible farming.

If you bring back your candle jar/container in a re-usable condition (unwashed), we will be glad to offer you credit on a purchase you make on the day you bring your old candle container (Not available online):
50p for tin containers - £1 for small and medium glass jars and £2 credit for large glass jars
If the container/jar is no longer usable, we would still be happy for you to bring it (unwashed) for recycling. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse a container/jar if unsuitable for this offer.

Why should you only buy Soy Wax Candles and not paraffin?
Although cheaper at purchase, paraffin waxes will cost you and the environment a lot in the long run. Indeed, where paraffin is made by removing the waxy substance from petroleum during the refining process (derived from the same stuff you put in your car’s engine), its burning contributes to air contamination. The petro-chemicals causing the soot and carcinogenic particulate matter could lead to several medical conditions.
Tests completed in the US in 2001 revealed that paraffin wax contained 11 compounds (such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acrolein) which are classified as dangerous, some even classed as carcinogenic. One compound, carbon tetrachloride, can lead to liver, kidney, and central nervous system damage when experienced in chronic amounts. The American Lung Association has even issued warnings regarding the burning of paraffin candles as a common, unrecognised cause of poor indoor air quality.
Additionally, to say that paraffin candles are cheaper than Soy Wax candles is not quite the truth; if they seem cheaper at time of purchase for an equivalent candle weight, Soy Wax candles last up to 50% longer. This is to say that in the long run you shouldn’t have to spend much more money to get good healthy candles; you didn’t think you would get such value and quality for your money, did you??!!
Not only do paraffin candles leave black residue on the containers they were burned in, but prolonged use of these candles can stain your walls, ceilings, curtains or blinds, and even carpets or rugs. They’re also quite troublesome, often very difficult, to remove.
Lastly, several studies have indicated that Soy candles emit less soot and organic chemicals than their paraffin counterparts, which is why we’re so keen on the stuff.
It must also be said that buying paraffin candles not only support our dependence on crude fossil oil, but it also supports an industry riddled with environmental faux-pas.
So why not get on the band wagon and try our much healthier Soy Wax candles?! You won’t be disappointed, promised.
